Travel Tip #2: Buy Liquid-Free Toiletries

En français svp!

Packing light while travelling is great, especially if you can fit everything in a carry-on! But the restrictions for carrying liquids, gels or aerosols through airport security these days are fairly strict and as a result, most people have to buy tiny, travel-sized versions of all their toiletries. Instead, why not try liquid-free products the next time you travel. Lush has a great selection of toiletries in solid form, which means you can pack them in your carry-on without worrying about security restrictions. Here are a few products that are so easy to travel with:

Solid Shampoo

These shampoo bars are perfect for travelling. They require very little packaging and hardly weigh anything. Solid shampoo is also an eco-friendly purchase since they don’t come with any packaging. However, you have the option of buying a little metal tin to store it in so it doesn’t make a mess after you wash your hair. They offer different shampoos for all hair types, including a volumizing sea salt bar and a moisturizing version made with lentils. There is even a vegan shampoo that goes by the name of Godiva.

Solid Conditioner

Since you’re going liquid-free, you’ll need a solid conditioner to match your shampoo. This bar is made with lots of fresh fruit and cocoa butter, so it smells really good. It also detangles your hair and makes it feel nice and soft.  Solid shampoos and conditioners last for a long time, so you’ll be able to bring them on multiple trips.

Toothpaste Tabs

I think these are a great idea, especially since I wanted to invent cubes of exploding, fizzy toothpaste. Lush’s Toothy Tabs are probably a lot more effective than my idea would have been and are so simple to use. After you crush one of the tabs with your teeth, wet your toothbrush and brush your teeth as usual. Toothy Tabs are vegan, preservative-free and they taste really good.

Solid Perfume

For travellers that want to bring perfume with them, a solid version is a great option. Lush isn’t the only company that sells them, but theirs are really affordable, making them perfect for packing in a carry-on. Many of the scents are unisex, so both men and women can wear them.

If you want to bring liquids in your carry-on, make sure you know and follow the restrictions. Otherwise, you and everyone behind you will be delayed going through security. You also run the risk of having items taken away from you (this includes bottles of water). Containers of liquids, aerosols, or gels in your carry-on should be 100ml or less. You also have to be able to fit them all in one clear, resealable plastic bag so pack carefully!
