Last week in Vancouver, EF kicked off our Road To Vimy 100 Speakers Series. This series of talks features keynote speakers and local community members (including educators, cadets and students) as they share travel experiences and reflections on the importance of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
Attendees had the privilege to learn from keynote speaker Mark Zuehlke, who is also known as Canada’s most popular military historian. In 2014, he was awarded a Governor General’s History Award. Mark shared his family connection to the Battle of Vimy Ridge, as well as some compelling stories he unearthed in the process of researching and writing his books.
The audience also had a chance to hear from community member and EF traveller, Zoe A., who discussed her recent trip to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial as a past recipient of the Vimy Pilgrimage Award. Through this award, presented by The Vimy Foundation, Canadian youths receive an opportunity to receive a fully funded, weeklong educational program in Vimy, France.
In April 2017, EF Educational Tours will be taking students, educators, community members, cadets and cadet leaders on a series of Vimy Ridge 100th Anniversary tours.
